$26.00 per hour, with a $1,500 Sign-On Bonus
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Weekend availability and rotating overnight shifts are required.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Communication:
Provide updates on hospitalized patients, offer home care instructions, and guide clients on medication administration. Address client inquiries confidently and refer complex questions to veterinarians as needed.
Client Education & Support:
Educate clients on preventive care, wellness protocols by age, vaccination needs, and laboratory processes, while assisting with financial policies by preparing estimates and discussing financial commitments.
Customer Service:
Welcome clients and their pets into the facility, ensuring a smooth transition to exam rooms and promoting the practice's products and services.
Animal Handling & Care:
Safely and compassionately restrain animals, assist veterinarians during medical, surgical, and dental procedures, prepare patients for surgery, administer anesthesia, and monitor patients throughout surgery and recovery.
Facility & Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure proper care of surgical materials, maintain hospital equipment and inventory, and keep surgery rooms, ICU areas, exam rooms, and treatment areas in optimal condition.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using a digital medical record system, ensuring all procedures, vaccinations, and notes are documented for billing purposes.
Pharmacy Assistance:
Assist with the dispensing of medications as directed by the veterinarian, prepare prescription labels, and package medications appropriately.
Safety & Technical Skills:
Adhere to DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety protocols; administer SQ, IM, and IV injections; perform anesthesia; conduct laboratory tests, radiographs, and electrocardiograms; place IV catheters; and perform emergency interventions such as bleeding control and external cardiac massage.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician
Ability to handle animals with care and compassion.
Knowledgeable about common medical conditions and able to alert veterinarians to changes in patient status.
Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety protocols.
