Medical Laboratory Technician Program Coordinator

This tenure-track faculty position is responsible for coordinating and teaching the Medical Laboratory Technician program's core curriculum. The coordinator will oversee the program's accreditation and advisory committee, recruit and supervise adjunct faculty, procure program materials and resources, and handle program development, assessment, and revision.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, assess, and continually revise the program curriculum to ensure alignment with industry standards and accreditation requirements.
- Ensure program compliance with regulatory requirements, including those related to accreditation and certification.
- Prepare and teach 15 credits per semester, utilizing a variety of instructional methods to engage students and promote learning.
- Recommend equipment, supplies, and facilities to meet program needs, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.
- Provide academic advising and support to students, helping them to achieve their academic and career goals.
- Participate in community-related activities, fostering partnerships and collaborations that benefit the program and its students.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of program equipment and facilities, ensuring that resources are utilized efficiently and effectively.
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Current national certification through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification to include MLT, MLS, or MT.
- Three years of work experience in a medical laboratory, with a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols.
- Three years of teaching experience in post-secondary education, with a focus on developing and delivering curriculum.
- Experience with and working knowledge of the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) accreditation process and procedures.
- Strong organizational and writing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Excellent advising and counseling skills, with a focus on student success and retention.
- Ability to establish good working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work, making decisions independently and taking initiative to address challenges and opportunities.
- Working knowledge of education theory and methodology, with a focus on adult learning and instructional design.
- Working knowledge of the Internet and discipline-specific software, with the ability to utilize technology to enhance teaching and learning.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with the ability to create engaging and effective educational materials.
This is a traditional classroom/lab/clinical learning environment, with opportunities for professional growth and development.
