POSITION SUMMARY

The 2nd SHIFT Facilities Maintenance Leader oversees the activities of hourly staff to ensure optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity, and delivery, thereby guaranteeing satisfaction for both internal and external stakeholders.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the organization's mission, vision, values, and objectives in daily operations.

Provide performance feedback and leadership to all direct reports, including mentoring, coaching, counseling, and corrective actions as necessary.

Contribute to the development of departmental strategic goals and identify key metrics to support these objectives.

Offer direction and leadership aligned with the plant's business plan goals.

Ensure safety, quality, production, and delivery objectives are met within the maintenance department.

Manage the maintenance and repair of equipment to support production needs.

Oversee preventive maintenance schedules to ensure efficiency.

Ensure accountability and discipline among team members.

Maintain maximum levels of equipment utilization and efficiency.

Drive staffing levels and utilization to ensure budget compliance.

Foster a positive work environment and promote team cohesion.

Encourage a continuous improvement mindset within the team.

Coordinate necessary training and team-building activities.

Assist in the orientation of new staff members.

Conduct performance reviews for probationary team members.

Monitor and implement improvement activities related to business objectives.

Communicate and prioritize daily tasks for the team.

Enter work orders into the maintenance management system.

Ensure timely and efficient completion of work orders.

Communicate overtime schedules to the team.

Assist with the setup of new jobs.

Record individual hours worked in the timekeeping system.

Maintain daily communication scoreboards for each line.

Share key information through the daily communication plan.

Champion assigned engineering changes and coordinate communication across departments.

Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities.

Support initiatives for achieving customer recognition and quality certifications.

Prepare accident reports, identifying root causes and corrective actions.

Ensure all team members are aware of their Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) responsibilities and hold them accountable.

Provide necessary tools and materials for safe and efficient job performance.

Ensure safety devices are in place and verify the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Adhere to all internal and OSHA safety procedures during daily activities.

Maintain positive relationships across all organizational levels.

Uphold high standards of cleanliness in the work area.

Comply with all company policies and procedures.

RELATIONSHIPS/CONTACTS

Reports directly to the Maintenance, Operations, or Engineering Manager. Frequently interacts with Production, Quality, Tool & Die, Materials, Human Resources, and Engineering Departments, and as needed with Information Technologies and Accounting Departments.

LEADERSHIP/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides direct leadership and supervision to skilled trades staff.

Identifies, selects, trains, and mentors management talent.

Exemplifies corporate values through model behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associates Degree in Applied Science in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Industrial Technology preferred.

Two to five years of experience as a maintenance supervisor preferred.

Knowledge of manufacturing, stamping, and assembly processes relevant to the position.

Strong understanding of TS 16949 and ISO 14001 regulations.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Experience in mentoring and teaching effective problem-solving methods.

Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts.

Proven leadership capabilities.

Experience as a training facilitator preferred.

Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations in English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities include standing, walking, twisting, bending, lifting, seeing, talking, and hearing. Travel may be required. Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and hazardous materials is expected.
