Clinical Support Specialist I

The Clinical Support Specialist role is designed to deliver both clinical and administrative assistance to patients under the supervision of a healthcare Provider and/or licensed Nurse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for medical evaluations; accurately measure and document vital signs; perform blood draws as necessary; administer medications as instructed by Providers in accordance with established protocols.
- Gather and record data that aids in assessing and planning individualized care and discharge strategies for assigned patients, under the guidance of the Licensed Nurse.
- Collect, process, and send laboratory samples following standard operating procedures.
- Effectively communicate patient observations and relevant information to the Provider and/or Licensed Nurse using proper documentation methods.
- Ensure precise and timely documentation of patient care within the electronic health record system.
- Conduct point-of-service tasks including scheduling appointments, preparing for visits, collecting co-payments, and tracking patient flow as required.
- Execute clinical responsibilities specific to the department, such as point-of-care testing, and conducting hearing and vision assessments.
- Perform routine administrative tasks including faxing, copying, and filing as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of examination rooms.
- Foster and uphold positive relationships with patients, families, and team members.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure environment for patients, families, and staff.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
Technical Skills:
Experience in blood collection is preferred.
Familiarity with medical terminology is essential.
Prior experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar applications is required.
Experience with electronic medical records (e.g., EPIC) is preferred.
Educational Requirements:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program, EMT Program, or Paramedic Program is necessary.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
Experience:
No prior experience is necessary.
No supervisory experience is required.
Employment Status:
This is a full-time position with an onsite work requirement.
