Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Laborer to join our team at Midcontinent Communications. In this role, you will support and assist underground construction crews with the installation, maintenance, relocation, and repair of underground fiber infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct manual labor activities, including digging trenches/holes, exposing existing underground utilities, and maintaining a clean and safe work zone.
  • Install utility pedestals, cabinets, and hand holes.
  • Handle materials, including conduit, fiber/cable pulling, and installation.
  • Perform site restoration and cleanup activities, including grade preparation, seeding, and concrete restoration.
  • Operate light-duty equipment, such as skid steer, hydro-vacuum, jackhammer, concrete saw, and power tamper.
  • Maintain safe working habits and conditions according to regulations, procedures, and policies.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in telecommunications infrastructure installation preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction, National Electrical Code, OSHA regulations, state, and local regulations.

Work Environment:

The employee will occasionally be required to lift and/or carry loads of up to 84 lbs. and work near moving mechanical parts. The employee may be exposed to risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration. The employee could be required to travel up to 50% of flexible scheduled hours.
