Alabaster Fire Department Internship Program

The Alabaster Fire Department is seeking highly motivated and dedicated students to participate in our internship program. As a student intern, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our certified firefighters and registered paramedics, gaining hands-on experience in the fire service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist firefighters and paramedics with daily operations
  • Participate in training exercises and drills
  • Develop skills in fire suppression, emergency medical services, and community outreach
Requirements:
  • Must be a local Alabaster resident
  • Must be a junior or senior level high school student
  • Must have a minimum C average
  • Must have 2 letters of recommendation submitted with application
Selection Process:

Applications will be reviewed to ensure minimum qualifications are met. Those meeting minimum qualifications will be invited to complete a written exam and physical abilities test. Candidates who successfully pass both tests will be scheduled for an interview before a panel of representatives from the Alabaster Fire Department.

Internship Details:
  • Internship duration: January-June
  • Work hours: 15-20 hours per week
  • Internship schedule: To be determined based on student's school schedule

A mandatory parent/student meeting will be held to discuss the internship program and requirements. We look forward to working with motivated and dedicated students who are interested in pursuing a career in the fire service.
