All applications will be reviewed to ensure minimum qualifications have been met. Those meeting the minimum qualifications will be invited to complete the written exam administered by Human Resources and a physical abilities test administered by Alabaster Fire Department. Candidates who successfully pass both the written exam and physical ability test will be scheduled for an interview before a panel of representatives from the Alabaster Fire Department.
Minimum Qualifications- Minimum age 18
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama Driver's License
- Must obtain and maintain an Alabama Department of Public Health Office of EMS Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic license within three years of employment
- A current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) certificate that is valid for a period of not less than 6 months and maintained until completion of Firefighter I/II (Career F/F)
- Must obtain and maintain certification as a Firefighter I/II (Career F/F) by the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission within one year of employment
