Job Title: Data Scientist SME

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist SME to join our team at Chenega Corporation. As a Data Scientist SME, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert in research design, data management, and data analysis. You will facilitate and support collaboration between Air and Space Human Performance Branch (RHBA) and the Operational Support Team (FESO) by understanding FESO data sources, Operational Support Teams' research needs, and translating those to the RHBA team.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, formulate, conduct, and lead data analysis of operational studies on health surveillance data/health records/other relevant military records and risk reduction of negative health outcomes affecting the DAF total force population.
  • Use judgement and originality in developing innovative approaches to define and resolve highly complex situations.
  • Manage the retrieval and integration of health information data, personnel records, deployment-related records, health surveillance registries, and other military-related data into useable format for end-users.
  • Assist in data collection in support of the RHBA and FESO collaborative research.
  • Draft reports, prepare, and/or present reports, documents, and/or presentations pertaining to the status of the research and data analysis as requested.
  • Present results of studies or investigations through briefings, technical reports, and publication into scientific journals.
  • Apply knowledge of science/technology to analyze and resolve multifaceted issues/problems with minimal guidance and collaborate with technical area stakeholders to develop strategies for effective execution within a particular technology area.
  • Support the RHBA mission by coordinating the RHBA and FESO collaborative research projects.
  • Conduct any other functions and duties recognized as being necessary to conduct their primary role within the scope of the effort.

Qualifications:

  • Masters' degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, Data Science, or Bioinformatics.
  • Minimum five (5) years of demonstrated experience in advanced analytical skills to include visual analytics in population health and health data surveillance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to design, formulate, conduct, and lead data analysis of operational studies on health surveillance data/health records/other relevant military records and risk reduction of negative health outcomes affecting the DAF total force population.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint, and shall have experience to demonstrate expert knowledge in descriptive statistics, as well as SAS/SAS EG.
  • Possess demonstrated experience with writing technical documentation, research and development programs, and research reports.
  • Possess experience within a health analytics related field and working with DAF related data.
  • Ability to complete Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative human subject use training (CITI training) and DAF Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training within the first month and maintain annual currency thereafter.
  • Ability to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) based on the potential access to confidential, proprietary, and/or sensitive information.

Physical Demands:

  • Contractor will be required to travel when authorized to participate in customer business line-related travel, including meetings and conferences, to fulfill respective mission goals.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may use repeated motions that include the arms, wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
