Job Opportunity

McAdams is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Urban Planner to join our Planning + Design team in North Carolina. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the pursuit and execution of urban and community planning projects, collaborating with clients, and delivering high-quality plans and designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead project pursuit efforts, collaborating with planning and design, marketing, and other teams to produce highly competitive proposals for community planning projects.
  • Work with the planning and design team to deliver high-quality short and long-term planning documents, including data analysis, narratives, conceptual design, and due diligence research.
  • Lead dynamic teams of planners, designers, and other professionals as a project manager, maintaining key points of contact with clients and managing staff.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive community engagement plans, delivering presentations to elected officials, advisory boards, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Work with leadership staff to create strategic planning goals that advance the firm's growth in a national community planning practice.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban/Regional Planning or a related field from an accredited program.
  • 12+ years of urban planning or related experience, with a strong understanding of the planning process, public engagement, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work within a collaborative team environment, communicate effectively, and manage a project team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with experience in leading a dynamic team of planners, designers, engineers, and other professionals.
  • AICP licensure and proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite software, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
