Job Summary

Under the supervision of school administrators, the Recess Monitor will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of students during lunch periods and recess. This includes monitoring student activities, directing students in the proper use of school equipment and facilities, and preventing and intervening in student arguments and fights.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor student activities during lunch periods and recess to ensure appropriate behavior and safety
  • Direct students in the proper use of school equipment and facilities
  • Prevent and intervene in student arguments and fights
  • Intercept unfamiliar personnel on school grounds and request identification
  • Assist instructors in providing first aid to students and accompany injured students to the school nurse
  • Perform basic clerical and support duties as needed
Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • Previous education, training, work, or life experience that provides reasonable evidence of successful performance of tasks
  • A valid Alaska Driver's License
Working Conditions

The Recess Monitor will work in a school setting, supervising students outdoors in various weather conditions. The ability to work in temperatures as low as -10°C is required.
