The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is tasked with overseeing the daily functions of the United Houma Nation, Inc. This role involves collaboration with the Board of Directors and operates under the guidance of the Board President to ensure that both short-term and long-term strategies for tribal initiatives align with the needs of the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directs all programmatic activities and supervises staff on a daily basis.
- Prepares comprehensive reports and recommendations for the Board, funders, and stakeholders regarding critical issues impacting tribal members and future development.
- Establishes and maintains organizational policies and procedures for Board review that reflect the mission and vision of the organization.
- Drafts official correspondence for the Board, including statements and positions for approval consideration.
- Implements and enhances operational processes to achieve maximum efficiency and superior service for tribal members.
- Acts as the authorized representative for all contracts and negotiations as sanctioned by the Board.
- Strategizes and seeks funding opportunities for both existing and new tribal services.
- Engages with tribal members to assess the effectiveness of program services.
- Oversees the development and monitoring of the annual budget, including accounts receivable and payable.
- Manages daily financial operations and provides regular financial updates to the Finance Committee.
- Coordinates communication for legal notices and informational outreach.
- Ensures compliance and currency in grant management.
- Leads recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training processes for employees.
- Determines employee classifications and ensures all necessary documentation is completed for new hires and terminations.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Board.
Essential Qualifications:
- A Master's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Accounting, Community Development, or a related discipline is required.
- Demonstrated experience in management and development is essential.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with community members, government agencies, nonprofit partners, and funding organizations.
- Proficiency in team coordination software is required.
- Familiarity with UHN culture, programs, and services is preferred.
- Experience in leading teams is essential.
- Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in various computer applications, including MS Office and MS Excel, is required.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Records check and Child Abuse Registry check is mandatory.
This is a full-time position with responsibilities that may require travel.
