About the Role

The Licensed Vocational Nurse I is a key member of our healthcare team, responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients in accordance with provider orders. This role requires a strong commitment to patient-centered care, with a focus on minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver quality nursing care to assigned patients, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  2. Record patients' medical information and vital signs, maintaining accurate and detailed reports.
  3. Monitor and report symptoms and changes in patients' conditions, collaborating with healthcare teams to develop effective care plans.
  4. Conduct specified laboratory tests, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  5. Provide patient education, addressing identified knowledge deficits and promoting health literacy.
  6. Participate in performance improvement initiatives, contributing to the development of evidence-based practices and quality improvement projects.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Vocational Nursing.
  • Current licensure to practice vocational nursing in the State of Texas, with a commitment to maintaining licensure throughout employment.
  • Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, with a focus on maintaining certification throughout employment.
  • ACLS certification within 3 months of hire (required in Emergency Department and Critical Care only).
  • EKG test passed within 90 days of hire date and maintained throughout employment (required in Emergency Department and Critical Care only).
  • Completion of Pediatric Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire and maintains credentialing throughout employment for the Emergency Department.
  • Completion of unit specific competency-based orientation program within 90 days, if applicable.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification must be obtained within 6 weeks of employment (for Inpatient Women's Services only).
  • Approved Education and Training in Non-Violent Crisis De-escalation must be obtained within 90 days of hire date and maintained throughout employment for the Emergency Department.
