Qualifications
To be eligible for this role, candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, and comply with the Northern Lights Career Development Center Level 1 standards as outlined in the Vermont Early Childhood Regulations. Compensation
This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage of $20.00, with payments made bi-weekly.

Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Teacher, you will be responsible for adhering to state and school policies while ensuring a clean and organized classroom environment. Your role will include:

  • Assisting in the execution of curriculum activities and promoting active participation among children.
  • Engaging in classroom activities while managing the cleanliness and availability of educational materials.
  • Maintaining open communication with parents through informal discussions and progress updates.
  • Encouraging self-sufficiency and good hygiene through positive behavior modeling.
  • Facilitating smooth transitions throughout the day and from home to school.
  • Adhering to all center policies and state regulations.
  • Developing a personal professional growth plan to ensure ongoing quality improvement.

Requirements
All applicants must meet the state qualifications for this position as specified by the Child Development Division. We are here to assist you in understanding your qualifications and can help you explore potential variances if needed. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 1-2 years of professional experience in child care.
  • A high level of energy and enthusiasm.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with basic computer proficiency.
  • A solid understanding of child development principles.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Certification in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid.
  • A clean background check and successful health screening.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with larger groups of children is advantageous, as it provides a different perspective compared to individual care scenarios.
