We are seeking an experienced theatre professional to join our faculty as an Assistant Teaching Professor of Speech/Accents. The successful candidate will teach practice-based courses in speech, accents, and dialects, as well as basic acting in our undergraduate program. They will also serve as a vocal coach on department productions and participate in all facets of the graduate and undergraduate acting programs.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in voice and speech pedagogy, phonetics, and heightened text, as well as experience with non-western methods of training. They will be passionate about fostering an inclusive vision for voice and speech in theatre training and will be committed to providing our students with the kind of rigorous, expansive work in the art of clear speech and transformational vocal work that will serve the needs of all our productions and prepare our actors for a wide variety of challenges in their future careers.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop curriculum, coach departmental productions, cast, recruit, and participate in university service. They will also be expected to mentor MFA and selected undergraduate students in their practice.
Basic qualifications for this position include an MFA or 3-5 years of professional experience and/or relevant training, as well as 1-3 years of evidence of teaching effectiveness and mentorship in higher education. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, mentoring, and service, as well as a passion for fostering an inclusive and diverse community of artists.
