Assistant Professor of Speech and Accents

We are seeking an experienced theatre professional to join our faculty as an Assistant Teaching Professor of Speech/Accents. The successful candidate will teach practice-based courses in speech, accents, and dialects, as well as basic acting in our undergraduate program. The position includes an expectation to participate in all facets of the graduate and undergraduate acting programs, including teaching, developing curriculum, coaching departmental productions, casting, recruitment, university service, and mentoring students.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in voice and speech pedagogy, phonetics, and heightened text, as well as experience with non-western methods of training. They will be passionate about fostering an inclusive vision for voice and speech in theatre training and will be able to teach a variety of voice and speech techniques. The successful candidate will also be able to mentor students in the MFA and undergraduate programs and will be expected to participate in departmental productions.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess an MFA or 3-5 years of professional experience and/or relevant training. They will also demonstrate 1 to 3 years of evidence of teaching effectiveness and mentorship in higher education, including positive teaching/mentoring evaluations, student support letters, peer/professional reviews, applicable awards/honors/nominations.
