Position: Lead Financial Analyst for Research Initiatives at Commonwealth of Virginia

Under the guidance of the Director of Sponsored Research, the Lead Financial Analyst will manage a variety of post-award and financial oversight responsibilities that support the operations of sponsored programs. Key duties include facilitating award establishment, ensuring compliance, and generating financial reports. The role requires collaboration with faculty, staff, and students during contract negotiations, as well as communicating award stipulations, monitoring compliance, conducting financial reviews, and liaising with sponsoring entities and the university's Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP).

Essential Qualifications

  • Master's degree in business administration or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • Ability to interpret and apply intricate regulations and procedures
  • Experience in budget formulation
  • Strong organizational capabilities and adeptness in managing multiple tasks efficiently
  • Dedication to providing exceptional customer service
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with an academic research setting
  • Experience with federally funded research initiatives, with NIH experience being advantageous
  • Understanding of research grant and contract management

Desirable Qualifications

  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or similar relevant certification
