About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Engineer to join our team at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for leading efforts in installing and maintaining systems software programs, assisting in the identification, evaluation, tailoring, and implementation of vendor-supplied systems software packages, and providing technical assistance and information to other systems programmers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead efforts for installing and maintaining systems software programs
  • Assist in the identification, evaluation, tailoring, and implementation of vendor-supplied systems software packages
  • Provide technical assistance and information to other systems programmers
  • Identify and research hardware system components
  • Review performance and utilization data and prepare capacity planning reports
  • Design and execute the BCBSMS Business Recovery Plan and annual tests
Requirements
  • An Associate or Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field OR the equivalent in related work experience
  • At least 8 years of IBM mainframe O/S System Programming experience
  • Systems Programming experience with DB2 in a Mainframe environment preferred
  • Experience in Storage Administration
  • Experience in IOCP/HCD Administration
  • Experience in Security Administration preferred (CA-Top Secret)
  • Must have knowledge of and experience with IBM operating system problem determination and resolution support utility programs
  • Must have experience performing system and application problem determination and resolution
  • Must have experience using SMP/E to install operating systems and program products and required maintenance
  • Must be proficient in MS Office products
  • z/VM experience preferred
