Rebar Detailer/Drafter Trainee

Job Summary

Nucor Rebar Fabrication is seeking a Rebar Detailer/Drafter Trainee to join our team in Flowood, MS. As a Rebar Detailer/Drafter Trainee, you will assist in detailing simple projects with a mentor's supervision, providing concise, accurate, and complete descriptions of all reinforcing steel and related products for fabrication, delivery, installation, and invoicing.

Key Responsibilities

• Detail simple projects with a mentor's supervision
• Provide concise, accurate, and complete descriptions of all reinforcing steel and related products
• Assist in the development of working knowledge of AutoCAD and the basics of Nucor Rebar Fabrication's detailing system (RebarCAD)
• Develop basic knowledge of reinforcing bar industry including reference material (i.e., CRSI and ACI)
• Submit placing drawings for approval and ensure conformance to the Branch quality assurance and the placer/shop requirements
• Process change orders to maximize all possible returns for the Branch
• Maintain all deliveries for fabrication
• Communicate with customer, placer and Architect/Engineer on all questions relating to project; submit Requests for Information (RFI) as required
• Work with Detailing Manager to ensure that all specialty items are pre-ordered to maintain construction schedules
• Follow one or more projects from estimate through detailing and fabrication to installation at the job site
• Under the direction of management, be involved in all construction conflicts/disputes (whether contractor, placer, detailer, or shop), and help with a resolution that is a time and cost-effective solution

Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
• Vocational certificate (or are currently enrolled) in CAD design/drafting OR related degree issued from an accredited school or college
• At least six months experience using AutoCAD and Windows based software
• Able to read architectural/engineering blueprints
