Role Summary:
The primary function of this role is to operate as a Licensed Practical Nurse within an Ambulatory Health Center, executing a range of essential and technical tasks for patients receiving care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide nursing care that meets the moderate complexity of patient needs.
2. Exhibit knowledge of human anatomy, physiological conditions, and diseases, facilitating effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
3. Conduct patient interviews and assessments to identify health concerns.
4. Evaluate immunization requirements and administer vaccines according to established guidelines, recognizing potential contraindications and adverse effects.
5. Prepare and administer medications as prescribed, ensuring awareness of contraindications.
6. Respond promptly to emergency situations as they arise.
Work Environment:
This role is performed in an ambulatory healthcare setting, where exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and biohazardous substances is common. Candidates must be prepared to follow safety protocols as necessary.
Physical Requirements:
Considerable mobility is required, including walking between treatment areas and performing tasks that involve bending, lifting, and assisting patients.
Essential Duties:
1. Execute nursing responsibilities within the Ambulatory Health Center.
2. Prepare patients for examinations and treatments following established protocols.
3. Ensure that patients are seen in a timely manner, prioritizing emergencies.
4. Administer medications under the guidance of medical staff, utilizing stock supplies.
5. Assist in transporting patients to various departments as needed.
6. Conduct necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as taking vital signs and wound care.
7. Communicate with patients regarding test results and follow-up care, providing education on health management.
8. Maintain accurate records and manage requests for tests or services in line with established policies.
9. Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available in treatment areas.
10. Participate in patient education and health promotion activities.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program is required.
- Preferred experience includes at least one year of relevant nursing team involvement.
- Current licensure in Practical Nursing by the State of Oklahoma or National Council of State Boards of Nursing, along with CPR certification, is mandatory.
