About the Role

The New School is seeking an experienced Academic Advisor to join our Student Success team. As a Student Success Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting students in achieving their academic and career goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Academic Advising: Provide one-on-one and group advising to students on academic planning, degree requirements, and career aspirations.
  • Career Development: Help students develop skills and strategies for career success, including resume building, interviewing, and networking.
  • Student Support: Identify and support students who are struggling academically or personally, and provide resources and referrals as needed.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure a seamless and supportive academic experience.
  • Program Development: Participate in the development and implementation of programs and initiatives to promote student success and retention.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in higher education advising.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse populations. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in academic advising, with a focus on student success and retention.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Banner, DegreeWorks, and Starfish, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree: Master's degree in Higher Education, Higher Education Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in academic advising, with a focus on student success and retention.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with NACADA, EAB, NACE, NASPA, ACPA, LinkedIn, or other advising-related professional organizations and tools.
Work Mode

This is a hybrid position, with a mix of on-campus and remote work.

Salary

$62,400
