Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled AutoCAD Technician to join our team at Schnackel Engineers Inc. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating and modifying technical drawings using AutoCAD software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to create detailed AutoCAD models and plans.
  • Utilize AutoCAD tools to create 2D and 3D drawings, elevations, sections, and details.
  • Collaborate with design teams to review and refine drawings, ensuring they meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Maintain and organize project documentation, including drawings and revisions.
  • Provide technical support to other team members as needed.
  • Coordinate with the client, the MEP/FP/IT design teams, and other engineers to ensure the design is consistent with the client's vision, to identify and resolve areas of conflict, to ensure a fully coordinated interdisciplinary design, and to ensure the design schedule is maintained.
  • Participate in meetings and conference calls when necessary.
  • Use AutoCAD, Revit, and other software to create document packages.
  • Maintain company AutoCAD standards, protocols, and execution.
  • Modify architectural CAD files for use in MEP design drawings (clean-up, audit reference, troubleshoot if needed).
  • Ability to perform basic tasks in Revit such as importing and exporting of building information models into AutoCAD drawings, setting up Revit models, navigation of Revit models, etc.
  • Assist with design teams with preparation of jurisdictional comment response letters.
  • Prepare projects for client submissions.
Requirements
  • In possession of or ability to obtain an Associate, Bachelor or Masters' degree in Computer Aided Drafting or Architectural Engineering.
  • Minimum of two years of experience using AutoCAD in a commercial environment.
  • Preferred ability to modify client BIM files for use in MEP design drawings.
  • Exceptional communication and organization skills, including ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently upon receiving necessary direction and information.
  • MEP experience with commercial buildings is a plus, training is provided in any case.
