Job Overview


The Instrumentation Maintenance Specialist is responsible for executing, supervising, and facilitating the upkeep, repair, and validation of instruments, hardware, and software. This role requires a solid understanding of mechanical and scientific instrumentation, along with the ability to provide informed guidance on complex technical issues.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct intermediate to advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and preventive upkeep of instruments and equipment.
2. Perform calibration and validation of various instruments and equipment.
3. Suggest and implement enhancements to instruments, equipment, and systems.
4. Manage inventory by sourcing and ordering necessary supplies and components.

5. Collaborate with clients and team members to deliver analytical instrument support, troubleshoot issues, and provide effective solutions.

6. Draft and update technical documentation, including standard operating procedures, calibration protocols, and qualification documents.

7. Engage in cross-functional projects, providing insights and presenting findings to management.

8. Offer analysis and advice to staff and management regarding equipment policies and practices.

9. Address customer and employee inquiries, coordinating vendor feedback and resources as necessary.

10. Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures to ensure quality and compliance.

11. Verify the accuracy of equipment and operational databases through audits and reviews, collaborating with teams to resolve discrepancies.

12. Contribute to the department's efficiency by actively participating in work teams and offering improvement suggestions.

13. Uphold the mission of Pace Analytical by fostering a respectful and cooperative workplace environment.


Qualifications:
Education and Experience:


A Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, electronics, or a related field, accompanied by three years of experience in instrument troubleshooting and repair; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge:
1. Proficient understanding of laboratory and analytical instrumentation.
2. Familiarity with metrology standards.
3. Techniques for diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
4. Knowledge of testing tools and calibration methods.
5. Awareness of relevant laws, codes, and regulations.

Skills:
1. Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation effectively.
2. Experience in managing mechanical, electrical, and software functions.
3. Competence in project management and teamwork.
4. Strong communication skills for presenting information clearly.
