About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Director to lead our food services team at Austintown Healthcare Center, a member of the CommuniCare Family of Companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the culinary activities in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure sufficient culinary staffing levels to deliver quality resident care.
  • Supervise the orientation and training of new employees and participate in their ongoing training.
  • Implement menus and recipes and maintain standards of culinary methodology and practices.
  • Develop and communicate shift assignments for culinary staff and monitor job performance.
  • Maintain quality food services by hands-on management, which includes cooking, tasting, seasoning, and serving food.
  • Communicate with ancillary departments and culinary staff at shift change on resident conditions, needs, and concerns.
  • Ensure that the culinary staff follows established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the operational aspects of the culinary department.
  • Manage resources available in the role of culinary director while ensuring that needed resources are available and that quality care is delivered to all residents.
  • Provide professional culinary services to all residents.
  • Maintain and work within established departmental, center, and corporate policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Participate in and provide scheduled training, educational classes, and orientation programs to maintain licensure of self and certification of team and enhance quality of care.
  • Provide leadership to the staff.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Previous cook experience in a healthcare environment.
  • 2 - 4 years management experience preferred, but we are willing to train and develop the right candidate.
  • Certified Dietary Manager preferred. We can help the right candidate navigate certification process upon hire.
  • ServSafe certification preferred. We can help the right candidate obtain certification upon hire.
  • Prior experience utilizing computers, preferably for Nutritional Care software applications.
