Job Summary:

The Paraprofessional Assistant will provide support to the classroom teacher in providing for the physical and instructional needs of students. This includes assisting in the implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with children.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the classroom teacher in providing modified instruction for ESL students in inclusive settings
• Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher
• Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
• Supervise students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom
• Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
• Assist in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports
• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as required

Requirements:

• Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate
• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to work well with children
• Proficient communication skills
• Ability to operate computer using a variety of basic applications
• Knowledge of general office equipment
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in some settings

Working Conditions:

The Paraprofessional Assistant will work in a fast-paced school environment and will be required to maintain emotional control under stress. The ideal candidate will be able to frequently move from one classroom to another and will be able to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance.
