Job Title: Support Staff Specialist

Job Summary:

The Gilbert Unified Schools AZ is seeking a highly skilled Support Staff Specialist to join our team. As a Support Staff Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting special education students with daily care and implementing instructional plans under the supervision of a certificated teacher.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist special education students with daily care, including toileting, feeding, dressing, and lifting, as needed.
  • Implement instructional plans assigned by a teacher or therapist for individuals or small groups, meeting learning goals and district benchmarks.
  • Monitor special education students during lunch, playground, classroom, and field trips to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participate in the recording, reporting, and gathering of data for the Direct Service Claiming (DSC) program.
  • Perform record-keeping and clerical functions, including correcting papers, copying, and instructional materials, to support the teacher in providing necessary records and materials.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as injured students or fights, to resolve immediate safety concerns.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Job-related experience is desired.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
Working Environment:

The Support Staff Specialist will work in a clean and safe environment, with frequent standing, walking, and lifting. The position requires the ability to adapt to changing work priorities and work with a diverse group of students and staff.
