Paraprofessional Assistant

Job Summary
The Gilbert Public Schools District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Paraprofessional Technician to join our team. As a key member of our special education department, you will play a vital role in supporting the supervision and instruction of students with special needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist special education students with daily living skills, such as toileting, diapering, and transfers.
- Support the implementation of positive behavior plans to address specific student issues.
- Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials to meet the needs of special education students.
- Collaborate with teachers to evaluate student progress and implement IEP objectives.
- Provide support for academic instruction, including small group instruction and one-on-one support.
- Implement behavioral plans designed by the IEP team to support students with special needs.
- Maintain instructional materials and student records, including adapting materials and checking papers.
- Monitor special education students during lunch, playground, and life enrichment activities to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participate in the recording, reporting, and gathering of data for the MIPS program.
- Perform record-keeping and clerical functions, including correcting papers and copying instructional materials.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as injured students or fights, to resolve immediate safety concerns.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Job-related experience preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification required.
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance required.
Working Environment
The Paraprofessional Technician will work in a regular education and/or special education classroom, with frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The job requires 10% sitting, 60% walking, and 30% standing.
