Position Overview:

The Security Officer role at the Albany Nanotech Complex, which operates around the clock, encompasses communication, desk, and mobile security patrol duties, alongside access control to uphold safety and security standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a professional and inviting environment for visitors and the community.
  • Oversee security patrols and communication operations to ensure site safety and security.
  • Monitor and manage computerized security and life-safety systems, including alarms for fire, toxic gas, building management, access control, and surveillance systems.
  • Promptly notify emergency response agencies (fire, police, ambulance, etc.) based on received information.
  • Assist emergency responders at the incident scene as directed.
  • Coordinate emergency and business-related communications via telephone, radio, and pager.
  • Document incidents and ensure proper visitor services, including entry processing.
  • Record patrols conducted, unusual occurrences, service requests, and prepare reports as per established procedures.
  • Safely manage vehicular traffic entering the premises.
  • Distribute and account for facility equipment.
  • Handle sensitive documents, equipment, and information with confidentiality.
  • Be prepared to work additional hours as required by the position.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old and capable of fulfilling the position's duties.
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • A current New York State security officer certification is preferred; however, a conditional offer may be extended with the requirement to obtain certification before the start date.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must have color vision and the ability to hear.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, a customer-focused approach, and a commitment to teamwork, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, demonstrate initiative, and adapt to change.
  • Must be physically capable of walking, running, standing, climbing, reaching, sitting, bending, and pushing/pulling, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • This position is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation, which may require annual reviews.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting salary of $22.00 per hour.
  • 15% shift differential for hours worked between 7 PM and 7 AM.
