We are building a risk-minimizing, sales-enabling, profit-supporting, and value-creating data protection program. We take a risk-based and data-driven approach to prioritizing our initiatives and projects.

  • We cover global data protection compliance
  • Data protection contracts (DPAs, SCCs, DTAs, etc.)
  • Security incident & data breach response
  • Product data protection by design
  • Privacy reviews (PIAs/DPIAs, TIAs, LIAs, etc.) for products, vendors, and internal operations programs
  • Internal investigations
  • Customer-facing data protection resources (e.g., Trust Center documentation)
Job Description

This position provides specialist expert advice and program operations support on all aspects of data protection to the Chief Privacy Officer for Citrix Systems. The role will help handle privacy reviews, DSR rights requests, privacy-related inquiries, and execute data protection program priorities in partnership with the CPO.

The Senior Data Protection Counsel is a key subject matter expert on US, EU, and global data protection rules. They will work closely with key stakeholders across the Legal Commercial, Compliance, Procurement, Security, Engineering, Product, IT, HR, Sales, and Marketing.

This position ensures that we minimize company data protection risks by increasing compliance with data protection rules.

The position demonstrates to customers, regulators, and the public that Citrix Systems has its data protection house in order and can be trusted as a cloud service provider.

The successful candidate is comfortable balancing compliance and risk-minimization with value-creation goals in their day-to-day work; passionate about data protection work; and a pragmatic, tech-savvy, and solutions-oriented professional.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position's key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Conducting data protection reviews and DPIAs of vendors, products, and internal programs involving personal data processing
  • Handling and responding to data subject rights (DSR) requests and other privacy inquiries
  • Maintaining and updating internal and external data protection policies, standards, guidance, and other documentation
  • Creating customer-facing FAQs, data sheets, and other documentation related to Citrix Systems' products and services' personal data processing
  • Supporting audits, assessments, and certifications, including responding to customer privacy and security questionnaires and addressing common privacy-related questions
  • Facilitating due diligence and transitions in mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, as needed
  • Advising Sales & Marketing teams on data protection requirements relevant to sales and marketing activities
  • Collaborating with other members of the Legal, Security, Engineering, Product, Marketing, HR, Sales, and other cross-functional teams
  • Providing expert support in internal investigation, security incidents, and data breaches
  • Monitoring data protection laws and regulatory trends, developments, and industry best practices
  • Driving awareness and education of Citrix Systems business and legal operations on global data protection law implications and obligations
  • Identifying awareness and training needs, providing expert input on global training program, and delivering data protection training, as needed
  • Supporting the CPO in data protection program management and operations
Required Qualifications

Qualified applicants must have:

  • 3+ years of full-time experience on data protection program operations
  • 2+ years of experience in the tech industry, with at least 1+ year in the B2B tech industry
  • 1+ year conducting data protection reviews and DPIAs, including recommending appropriate privacy controls
  • Qualified US attorney, with ability to practice in California or Florida
Salary

$145,000 - $175,000 per year, depending on experience
