Classification Purpose: This classification is designed to execute electrical installations, upkeep, and repairs within County facilities and structures.

This role is classified as safety-sensitive and is subject to random drug testing in line with the County's Drug & Alcohol Policy.

Key Responsibilities: The following tasks are typical for this position. The absence of specific duty statements does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Additional duties may be required and assigned.

- Handles high-priority tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of building utility power, electrical systems, and associated equipment; expedites emergency repairs due to lightning damage and utility power loss; and installs, repairs, and replaces electrical conductors, protective overcurrent devices, motors, switches, disconnect switches, lighting systems, appliances, and general equipment.

- Diagnoses and rectifies electrical malfunctions; employs standard practices as mandated by the National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant safety regulations; identifies and resolves issues with electrical systems and equipment; troubleshoots problems with incoming utility power, interior and exterior electrical service panels, and electrical transformers; conducts appreciative testing; and utilizes protective gear.

- Executes preventative maintenance, repairs, and transfer tests on generators, automatic transfer switches, and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) systems; conducts regular maintenance and transfer tests; performs annual load bank tests and maintenance on backup emergency generators; maintains records of scheduled maintenance and repairs; and inspects underground fuel tanks for leak detection and related issues.

- Conducts maintenance, installation, and repairs of electrical systems associated with lighting in parks and recreational facilities; operates aerial bucket trucks to replace ball field pole lights, ballasts, and control wiring; removes damaged and underground cables and wiring for light poles and scoreboards; installs new conductors; and performs maintenance and repairs on facility snack bars and offices.

- Installs, repairs, replaces, and retrofits various types of lighting in parking lots and decks; identifies electrical issues with parking lot and deck lighting control systems, including timers, photocells, caution lights, flashers, and exit/emergency lights; replaces outdated lamps and ballasts; and retrofits and replaces light fixtures as necessary.

- Manages the installation, maintenance, and repair of interior and exterior lamps and light fixtures in County buildings; replaces burnt-out lamps and ballasts; retrofits light fixtures; and disposes of environmentally harmful materials associated with fluorescent lighting.

- Assesses the quantity of materials required to complete projects; provides cost estimates as needed; gathers equipment, tools, parts, and supplies; monitors inventory levels; and orders new or replacement materials as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED, with vocational training through an accredited electrician's apprenticeship program is required; three years of experience as a journeyman electrician or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

Required License or Certification: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license. Some positions may require obtaining a valid Georgia Water Distribution System Operator license or Wastewater Collection System Operator license within two (2) years of employment.
