Job Summary

At Hardin Medical Center, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team. As a key member of our Environmental Services department, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for our patients, residents, employees, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional cleaning and sanitation services to all areas of the hospital, including patient rooms, nursing units, surgical areas, administrative offices, and public restrooms.

• Use various cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, clean equipment and furniture, vacuum carpet, and mop floors to maintain a sterile environment.

• Make beds, empty trash, and restock supplies to ensure a comfortable and satisfying experience for our patients and residents.

• Collect and distribute dirty laundry and clean linens, hospital gowns, and other supplies to maintain a smooth operation.

• Take daily inventory and inspect equipment to report any repairs or replacements needed.

• Promote infection-control policies and ensure sanitary conditions to prevent the spread of infection and odors.

• Follow established procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of objects/materials and/or the clean-up of blood, infectious materials, or body fluids containing blood in accordance with HMC standards.

Requirements

• High School or GED preferred.

• On-the-job training required.

• Some experience working in a commercial housekeeping environment preferred.

• Hospital housekeeping experience preferred.

• Hospital Housekeeping certification preferred.

Physical Demands

This position demands good physical and mental health. You must be able to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull, and work a flexible schedule. You must be able to move continuously during work hours and lift and/or carry 50 to 75 pounds. Prolonged periods of standing and walking are required. You must be able to see with corrective eye wear and hear clearly with assistance. You may be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases. You must be able to handle emergency and/or crisis situations and may be required to wear protective equipment as necessary. Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching are also required. You must be able to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment and pass all required health and other screening tests, including random and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
