Echocardiography Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Echocardiography Technician to support operations at The San Francisco VA Medical Center. The selected candidate will be responsible for all aspects of cardiac ultrasonography, including the production, use, recognition, and analysis of echocardiograms.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy and pathophysiology, as well as the ability to analyze echocardiograms to detect abnormalities. They will also be proficient in using echocardiographic contrast and able to communicate effectively with employees at varying levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform echocardiograms and analyze results to detect abnormalities
- Use echocardiographic contrast as indicated and follow VA protocol
- Determine necessary measurements for regurgitant lesions and obtain good quality images
- Maintain adequate supplies and equipment for the Echocardiography Laboratory
- Stay up-to-date with Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements
- Communicate effectively with employees and provide staff development and training
Requirements:
- Completion of formal training program in dysrhythmia recognition and certification
- Active BLS certification
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
- No sponsorship available
Physical Demands:
- Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
- Lift up to 20 lbs
- Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
- Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
