OSP Engineer Job Description

Luck Grove Telecom Inc is seeking a highly skilled OSP Engineer to join our team. As an OSP Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing outside plant facilities for telecommunications projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop OSP designs and layouts using CAD software
  • Create detailed schematics for outside plant construction
  • Conduct system design and engineering for OSP projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success
  • Perform debugging and troubleshooting of OSP systems
  • Utilize NEC standards in OSP design and implementation
  • Work on electrical systems, PCB, and SoC integration
  • Utilize MATLAB for analysis and design tasks
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in CAD software for OSP design
  • Knowledge of Perl scripting for automation tasks is a plus
  • Familiarity with NEC standards for telecommunications infrastructure
  • Experience in debugging and troubleshooting OSP systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and integration with PCBs and SoCs
  • Ability to read and understand highway/road prints, utility maps, and as-builts to identify conflicts with existing facilities
  • Collaboration with vendors and internal GIS and CAD teams to produce all required documentation for application packages
  • Adaptability to changing standards and procedures
  • Coordination with project teams for forecasting, scheduling, resources management, and quality assurance
  • Review of project deliverables for accuracy and identification of risks, issues, and recommended mitigations
  • Assistance with as-built package completion and delivery as well as billing closeout
  • Sound OSP engineering experience deploying fiber optic networks
  • Knowledge of fiber optic counts, fiber assignments, and splicing schematics in a high density fiber environment
  • Experience working in all aspects of telecom with knowledge of NESC, NEC, and OSHA standards
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving ability, self-motivation, leadership, and team building capabilities
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels
  • Knowledge of engineering tools including AutoCAD, OCalc, EZLoad, iBwave, 3-GIS, or any similar GIS/KMZ platforms
  • Proficiency in Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Google Sheets and Google Drive
