Job Summary:

As a Host/Hostess at Maggiano's Little Italy, you will be responsible for providing exceptional guest service by greeting and seating guests, answering phone calls, taking messages and reservations, and maintaining an accurate wait list. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the dining room is well-organized and that all servers have a fair share of guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Determine the proper number of reservations to be accepted for each shift according to established procedures.
  • Take all reservation calls and record necessary information.
  • Confirm applicable reservations according to established procedures.
  • Seat the restaurant evenly and in an orderly manner to ensure a positive dining experience for all guests.
  • Maintain an accurate head count of guests seated in each station.
  • Fulfill all sections of a telephone message pad and pass on to the appropriate person within 10 minutes of the call.
  • Check washrooms and coordinate with bus staff cleaning requirements.
  • Ensure that the host desk and waiting area are kept clean and organized throughout the shift.
  • Sell and accurately account for gift certificate sales.
  • Move tables as needed for larger or smaller parties.
  • Relate to guests pleasantly and with good humor.
  • Communicate effectively with guests.
Requirements:
  • Must provide a minimum of 1-year full-service restaurant experience or the equivalent.
  • Must have accurate mathematical skills.
  • Must be willing and able to meet personal schedule requirements punctually.
  • Must be warm, sincere, and outgoing in personality.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time while on duty.
  • Must be able to move safely throughout all areas of the restaurant.
  • Must be able to work amidst noise in a confined and crowded space.
  • Must be able to move chairs, transport high chairs and/or booster seats to tables when necessary.
  • Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
