International Accounting Manager

At Insomnia Cookies, we're on a mission to become the most imaginative sweet indulgence brand in the world. As we continue to grow and expand our brand, we're seeking a highly skilled International Accounting Manager to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee all international financial accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, tax, and more for our 5+ stores across the UK and Canada.
- Perform various day-to-day accounting functions, including booking journal entries, and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements.
- Work closely with US and international market team members to ensure alignment on operational activities, sales, and business expenses.
- Review capital expenditure invoice postings to confirm proper accounting treatment and reclassify items as needed.
- Aid in the training of US staff on UK and Canada accounting processes, and work together to automate and streamline processes where possible.
- Collaborate with the Tax manager to ensure compliance with all VAT/GST/HST submissions.
- Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Post-graduate professional degree (e.g., MBA) preferred.
- CPA certification preferred.
- 6 years of accounting experience in a high-growth company, including 2+ years of international accounting experience.
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial systems.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to decipher large amounts of data to deliver actionable insights.
- Functional expertise in accounting systems (e.g., Sage/Mas90, Hyperion, SAP, Oracle) and financial modeling experience using advanced Excel functions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Cost Accounting and Budget Management expertise, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams to initiate cost reduction programs.
- Drive for results, with a proactive, high-energy, and results-oriented approach.
- Perseverance, with the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Priority and Process Management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
