Position Overview:
The Clinical Manager for the Student Assistance Program (SAP) plays a pivotal role in overseeing a school-based initiative aimed at the prevention and early intervention of substance abuse among youth. This position is under the guidance of the Clinical Supervisor and is essential for the effective functioning of the SAP.
Key Responsibilities:
The Clinical Manager's primary duties include supporting the SAP and its counselors in alignment with OASAS standards and guidelines. Responsibilities encompass:
1. Providing case consultation and reviewing clinical documentation.
2. Conducting monthly file audits to ensure compliance and quality of care.
3. Offering additional support to school sites as needed.
4. Mentoring and supervising SAP counselors to enhance their clinical skills and crisis intervention techniques.
5. Acting as a mental health and substance abuse consultant for SAP counselors.
6. Ensuring timely data entry and completion of workplan tasks.
7. Collaborating with school administrators and community professionals to optimize the SAP's offerings.
8. Collecting and reporting outcome data to meet funder requirements.
9. Participating in staff development and training initiatives.
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a master's degree in social work or mental health counseling from an accredited institution, along with a valid license in New York (LCSW, LMHC, LMSW). A minimum of three years of post-master's professional experience in mental health or substance abuse counseling, specifically with adolescents aged 12 to 21, is required.
Skills and Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of adolescent development and mental health issues.
- Familiarity with community mental health and substance abuse services.
- Ability to foster collaborative relationships with educational and mental health professionals.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
All candidates must successfully pass background checks as mandated by relevant authorities. This position typically requires a commitment of 35 to 40 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend work as necessary.
