About the Role:

Holcim, a leading supplier of quality construction building materials in the United States, is seeking a skilled Plant Mechanic to support operations at Rockville Crushed Stone in Rockville, Maryland. This position will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of fixed electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, systems, and machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and maintain plant equipment, performing necessary repairs and adjustments, and reporting required repairs or findings to the Area Manager.
  • Adhere to all safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures in completing daily tasks and completing all required paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Complete work orders in a timely manner, installing, repairing, and fabricating materials out of metal, ensuring the availability and functioning of required items, and ensuring safety and resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on plant equipment, including handling welding repairs.
  • Conduct routine inspections of plant and mobile equipment and report findings to the Area Manager.
  • Prepare plant reports as required and maintain an inventory of regularly used repair supplies or equipment.
  • Assist personnel as needed to support them in completing their work activities.
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed and assigned to resolve immediate safety concerns.
  • Perform required emergency repairs on production equipment to address plant breakdowns.
  • Maintain shop, equipment, tools, vehicles, etc., to ensure the availability and functioning of required items and ensure safety.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a plant or industrial environment.
  • Proficient in hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Certified Welder (CW, CW, CWE, or CWRT).
  • Knowledge of hot work permit systems protocol.
  • OSHA certified.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Excellent oral communication skills with close attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions without limitations.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Reliable transportation.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim-approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
