Process Development Intern Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Express recombinant proteins in microbial or eukaryotic expression systems at scales ranging from milliliter to hundreds of liters using shake flasks and automated bioreactors.
  • Purify recombinant proteins at scales ranging from milligrams to tens of grams using automated chromatography systems.
  • Characterize in-process samples and purified proteins using methods including, but not limited to, OD determination, metabolite profiling, SDS-PAGE, RP-HPLC, aSEC, LAL assay.
  • Develop assays for testing purified proteins against a panel of release criteria.
  • Complete project plans according to all specifications, including timeline and budget.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and work practices in the fields of protein expression, purification, and characterization.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology or related field.
  • Previous lab experience.
  • Exposure to one or a combination of the following is required:
    • Automated single-use or stainless bioreactor systems and control software.
    • GE KTA systems and unicorn software.
    • Protein expression systems and/or aseptic technique.

This is a 12-week paid internship immersive experience that provides functional learning working on robust and challenging project work, Executive and Senior leadership engagement, and exposure to Danaher Business System fundamentals. The program culminates with a report-out presentation to leaders from the organization. After successful completion of the program, interns will be considered to return as a full-time associate upon graduation.
