Pharmacist in Charge Job Summary

The Pharmacist in Charge reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations for a single pharmacy. This role involves dispensing prescribed medications, providing functional supervision of professional, paraprofessional, and support staff, and performing related duties as required.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Ensure all prescriptions are input, filled, and dispensed accurately, timely, and within budget.
  2. Maintain appropriate staffing levels to ensure smooth operation within budget.
  3. Develop supervisory staff, provide input, and directions as needed.
  4. Identify and evaluate technology to improve efficiency in operations.
  5. Oversee workflow, identify problem areas, and implement process improvements.
  6. Contribute to production by working as a pharmacist as required.
  7. Liaise with the President to resolve conflicting priorities.
  8. Work with the Director of Operations/Customer Service to resolve service issues in a timely manner.
  9. Work with the Director of Operations/Customer Service to ensure new business is onboarded smoothly and efficiently.
Physical Requirements

  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit, as well as talk and hear.
  • The employee is required to use hands to operate vehicles and office equipment.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to organize and plan the activities of subordinates, and to delegate appropriately.
  • Pharmacy Degree and State Licensure.
  • Compounding experience.
  • Current knowledge of all applicable state and federal pharmacy laws, rules, and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two plus years of experience.
  • Leadership experience including interviewing and training skills.
