Position Overview

Wheaton College is seeking qualified candidates for two tenure-track faculty roles in the Engineering department. We encourage applications from individuals belonging to groups that are typically underrepresented in the engineering field, including those with unconventional career trajectories.


The Engineering program at Wheaton has recently transitioned from a 3-2/Dual Degree format to offer a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with specializations in Mechanical, Biomedical, and Civil/Environmental Engineering.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for instructing core engineering courses such as Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, and Engineering Graphics, while also creating new required and elective courses tailored to the Engineering BS major concentrations.

This faculty member may also engage in teaching courses aimed at non-majors within our general education framework, as well as leading seminar-style classes for majors, including introductory courses for first-year students and capstone seminars focused on Engineering Ethics.

Applicants are required to hold a Ph.D. in any engineering discipline.

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about mentoring students from diverse cultural backgrounds and who will employ an active learning approach that both challenges and supports each student.

Previous experience in teaching and industry, particularly in hands-on design and project-based learning, is highly regarded.

The ability to guide engineering students in integrating their Christian faith with engineering practice is a significant aspect of this role.

Faculty members are expected to maintain an active and fruitful scholarship program that involves Wheaton undergraduate students. Experience as an ABET evaluator or similar familiarity with the ABET accreditation process is advantageous.
