Position Overview

English/Humanities Educator (focused on 9th and 10th grades)
As an integral part of our educational team, you will collaborate with fellow humanities instructors (including English, History, and Religion) to design effective intervention strategies within the standard classroom environment. Your role will involve supporting classroom educators through data collection to evaluate the success of these interventions.

During designated 'Office Hours', you will plan and deliver targeted small-group or individualized support to students. Regular meetings with the Intervention Team will be essential to assess student data and determine future intervention strategies. Participation in grade-level and departmental meetings is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in English and ideally possess a minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience in English.
  • A teaching license is not a prerequisite.
  • Collaborate effectively with humanities teachers to create tailored learning plans for students in both group and individual contexts.
  • Provide tutoring to students in small groups or one-on-one to enhance their reading, writing, and executive functioning skills, aiming to elevate them to expected academic levels.
  • Engage in all professional development opportunities and participate in school-wide activities as a member of the teaching community.
  • Maintain meticulous records and reporting, including daily hours and monthly progress updates for students and their families.
  • Encourage increased parental involvement in the academic success of students.
  • Spanish language skills are preferred but not mandatory.

This position is funded through Title resources and collaborates closely with the school to utilize assessment data and classroom observations to identify students requiring additional support to meet grade-level expectations.

Compensation: $52,000 - $54,000 annually, based on experience.
