Patient Care Technician

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Tech to join our team at West Tennessee Healthcare. As a Patient Care Tech, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and their families.
Job Summary:The Patient Care Tech will work under the general supervision of the Director, Clinical Manager, and Charge Nurse to provide hygienic care and assigned procedures for assigned patients based on age-specific needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Answer call lights and respond to patient needs in a timely and professional manner.
- Obtain and record patient vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
- Assist with new admissions by taking vital signs, obtaining weights, and assisting patients with gowns and telemetry patches.
- Reposition patients every two hours to prevent skin breakdown and promote comfort.
- Ambulate patients in the hall as needed to promote mobility and prevent bedsores.
- Assist patients with meals by getting them up to the chair and preparing the area for eating.
- Pass food trays and feed patients who cannot feed themselves.
- Collect and accurately record intake and output.
- Assemble patient charts, record patient information, and route patient charges.
- Enter written orders into the electronic medical record and complete related forms.
- Assist with transporting patients and keeping the department tidy by putting away stock and cleaning rooms.
- Assist with incentive spirometers to promote respiratory health.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- BLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period and kept current while in this position.
- Preferred, but may be trained by qualified personnel on the unit.
This position requires working in a fast-paced healthcare environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
