Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor Central Sterile Processing to join our team at Emory Healthcare. As a key member of our sterile processing department, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities between the Operating Room and Central Sterile Services Department to ensure efficient case flow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee daily activities between the Operating Room and Central Sterile Services Department to facilitate efficient case flow.
  • Ensure compliance with current standards and guidelines, including (CBSPD), (AAMI), and (IAHCSMM).
  • Stay up-to-date on aseptic techniques and basic microbiology to understand disease transmission and the importance of clean and sterile supplies in patient care.
  • Work with the SPD Educator to develop in-service education programs as needed.
  • Assess supplies required for prescribed standard surgical procedures and set up case carts.
  • Maintain inventory, collect, disassemble, inspect, clean, disinfect, and reassemble all instrument trays and patient care equipment.
Requirements
  • Some College or Associates Degree preferred or Surgical Technologist.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in sterile processing, healthcare environment, or as an operating scrub.
  • Sterile Processing Technician Certification (CBSPD/CRCST) required; for Surgical Tech, 6 months to obtain.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
Working Conditions

This role requires occasional to frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, and close eye work. Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to, blood-borne pathogen exposure, bio-hazardous waste, chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, floor surfaces, hot/cold temperatures, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting, patient care/handling injuries, radiation, shift work, travel may be required, and use of personal protective equipment, including respirators.
