Position Overview: We are currently seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join our Real Estate group. This role is based in Chicago, IL, and involves working with a diverse range of clients, including Real Estate Investment Trusts, private equity funds, developers, and family offices. You will engage with clients who have extensive experience in real estate as well as those venturing into property investment for the first time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a Career Advisor, mentor, or coach to team members, providing constructive performance feedback.
- Facilitate training and development for staff.
- Manage complex issues while ensuring clear communication between clients and service teams.
- Lead business relationships for intricate engagements, focusing on delivering high-quality tax advice.
- Drive growth in the specialty area by generating new revenue from existing clients and pursuing new client opportunities.
- Engage directly with clients to address inquiries, planning, and consulting needs.
- Coordinate client service while executing the firm's service plan.
- Review research findings to ensure alignment with firm policies and professional standards.
- Foster relationships across various business lines to enhance client service through an integrated approach.
- Oversee corporate client needs regarding tax services and compliance.
- Stay informed on current tax practices and legislative changes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Travel may be required as part of the role.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- CPA, JD, LLM, or EA certification.
- A minimum of 8 years of public accounting experience or equivalent in law firms or industry.
- Ability to support financial growth efforts and manage a portfolio of clients.
- Experience with S-Corps, C-Corps, or Partnerships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and engagement teams.
- Strong project management and critical thinking skills.
- Proven track record in generating new business and expanding service opportunities.
- Experience with accounting for income taxes in accordance with ASC 740.
- Familiarity with international tax matters is a plus.
