Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the precise selection, dosing, administration, and dispensing of medication orders in specialized fields such as nuclear medicine, oncology, and cardiology.
- Act as a subject matter expert in the pharmacy discipline, providing guidance across various pharmacy settings and to clinical leadership.
- Review and evaluate medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve potential and actual drug-related issues.
- Recommend formulary alternatives when suitable.
- Compound and dispense medications to ensure accurate delivery to patients.
- Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
- Communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals as necessary to facilitate patient care.
- Supervise technical personnel assisting in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies.
- Assist with academic functions, including serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students.
- May provide coverage for pharmacy needs as required.
- Offer patient counseling when necessary.
Qualifications:
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- Pharmacist credential from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation required prior to hire or job transfer.
Education:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.
- Additional Preferences: Completion of PGY2 specializing in behavioral health, or PGY1 with behavioral health experience, or solid experience as a behavioral health pharmacist.
