Job Description

At BAE Systems, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Software Engineer to join our FAST Labs team in Merrimack, NH. As a key member of our software engineering group, you will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and sustainment of our software solutions to meet and exceed customer expectations.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead software program performance metrics and clearly communicate program status to internal and external customers as well as senior leadership.
  • Manage software development teams to ensure overall success of our programs.
  • Develop estimates (BoE and ROM), software development plans, contribute to architecture, select tools and components, drive the schedule for SW development, oversee development standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure adequate testing of delivered SW product.
  • Collaborate with program and engineering management to ensure overall success of our programs.

Requirements:
  • BS degree in a STEM field and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience in the development of complex software-intensive systems. 8 years experience with MS degree.
  • Active Top Secret DoD clearance with ability to obtain SCI accesses.
  • Strong experience in leading software teams in a technical role.
  • Strong experience with C, Git, Jira, automated testing tools, and SW architecture.
  • Experience presenting to technical and non-technical audiences, internally and customer-facing.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI DoD clearance.
  • Embedded software design and implementation.
  • Software Defined Radios, Communication protocols, encryption, Digital Signal Processing.
  • Foundational knowledge with DevSecOps.
  • Deep knowledge in one or more of the following languages MATLAB, Rust, C.
  • Model Based Engineering methods and tools.
  • Cost Account Management/Earned Value Management.
  • Cloud Native Technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, Helm.
  • Involvement with open standards such as the Software Communications Architecture (SCA), Open Mission Systems (OMS), Big Iron, Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE), Vehicle Integration for C4ISR/EW Interoperability (VICTORY), C4ISR/EW Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS) and Sensor Open System Architecture (SOSA).
