Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals at SMA Healthcare as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in our Primary Care department.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate LPN to provide high-quality nursing care to our clients. As an LPN, you will be responsible for administering medications, performing initial and ongoing health assessments, documenting results, and ensuring the protection of our clients from blood-borne pathogens.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide quality nursing care to clients, including administering medications, performing health assessments, and documenting results.
  • Ensure the protection of clients from blood-borne pathogens by adhering to safety and environmental infection control policies and procedures.
  • Provide emergency care, respond to accidents, and administer CPR or first aid as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with doctors, psychiatrists, and pharmacists regarding client needs, arrange medical appointments, and advise of unusual laboratory results or medication changes.
  • Collect UA samples using Universal Precautions and in accordance with SMA policy and procedure.
  • Initiate crisis intervention as required to maintain a safe environment.
  • Record client information in SMA's EMR in a timely manner and in accordance with SMA policy and procedure.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a program in practical nursing and licensure as a practical nurse.
  • Experience working in a clinical psychiatric setting and/or with chemically dependent individuals preferred.
  • Knowledge of current principles and practice related to healthcare of clients specific to the LPN's program population.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately assess situations and use sound judgment in applying medical or emergency intervention techniques.
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with clients, family members, other employees, professionals, and the general public.
Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The LPN must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds and have visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, intervene, treat, and record client healthcare needs.

The work schedule may vary, with the possibility of working 8-12 hour shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The LPN must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
