Job Summary

Dewberry is seeking a highly experienced Senior Construction Inspector to join our team in the Richmond and Hampton Roads, VA areas. As a Senior Construction Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and compliance of Roadway and Bridge construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and Ensure Compliance: Conduct regular site visits to monitor contractor operations and ensure compliance with plans, contract terms, and specifications.
  • Coordinate and Schedule: Coordinate and schedule various phases of construction inspection with the prime contractor and other agencies.
  • Review and Monitor Plans: Review and monitor contractors' plans of operation, including Method of Traffic (MOT) plans.
  • Advise and Recommend: Advise contractors of violations and recommend adjustments to operations.
  • Recommend Changes: Recommend changes to construction plans to meet field conditions.
  • Conduct Field Measurements: Make field measurements of pay items and conduct materials testing.
  • Maintain Project Records: Maintain and review comprehensive project records, including daily diaries, materials notebooks, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders, and monthly estimates.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of roadway and bridge construction experience.
  • Mathematical Knowledge: Working knowledge of mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Technical Skills: Working skill in operating computer equipment, mobile devices, software programs, and field inspection equipment.
  • Plan Reading: Ability to read and interpret roadway, bridge, and utility plans and contract specifications.
  • Foundation Experience: Experience in the design, construction, or inspection of driven pile foundations.
  • Bridge and Roadway Knowledge: Considerable knowledge of bridge and roadway construction methods, materials, standards, and specifications.
  • Mathematical Formulas: Ability to apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field adjustments.
  • VDOT Certification: VDOT bridge inspector certification a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with agency and contractor personnel and the general public.
  • Driving Ability: Ability to drive assigned and/or personal vehicles within roadways and project sites to perform construction inspection activities.
