Certified Nursing Assistant I

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant I to join our team at Northern Light Health. As a key member of our Medical Surgical Unit, you will provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of our nursing staff.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate and interact with patients, families, physicians, peers, and other healthcare members to maximize successful customer outcomes and unit function.
- Precept team members to job function.
- Orient patients to hospital environment and routine.
- Attend and serve on one unit committee or educational peer opportunity to improve quality and engagement.
- Document all aspects of patient care in a timely manner.
- Participate in unit quality improvement initiatives.
- Communicate appropriate information and patient needs to oncoming staff at change of shift and to RN in a timely manner for follow-up.
- Provide care in accordance with patient's plan of care.
- Label and deliver specimens per policy.
- Maintain a safe environment complying with Northern Light Health policies and procedures; report and directly address environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
- May perform other duties upon request.
Requirements:
- Current registration as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of Maine.
- BLS certification is to be obtained prior to caring for patients and is to be kept current.
- 1 year's experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

- Required Certified Nursing Assistant.
Education:
- Required No Minimum Requirement.
Working Conditions:
- Lifting, moving, and loading 30 to 50 pounds.
- Alternate shift schedules (day, evening, nights, weekends).
