Job Summary

As a Medical Assistant - Patient Care, you will provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of nursing staff. Your duties will include feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, or moving patients, or changing linens. You may also transfer or transport patients.

Key Responsibilities

- Communicate and interact with patients and families, physicians, peers, and other healthcare members to maximize successful customer outcomes and maximize function of the unit.
- Precept team members to job function.
- Orient patients to hospital environment and routine.
- Attend and serve on one unit committee or educational peer opportunity to improve quality and/or engagement.
- Document all aspects of patient care in a timely manner.
- Participate in unit quality improvement initiatives.
- Communicate appropriate information and patient needs to oncoming staff at change of shift and to RN in a timely manner for follow up.
- Provide care in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
- Label and deliver specimens per policy.
- Maintain a safe environment complying with NLH policies and procedures; report and directly address environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
- May perform other duties upon request.

Credentials and Education

- Required Certified Nursing Assistant
- Required High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED)

Working Conditions

- Lifting, moving, and loading 30 to 50 pounds.
- Alternate shift schedules (day, evening, nights, weekends).
