Overview:
Oversee the daily functions of patient intake and admissions, which may encompass call and referral management, scheduling of assessments and admissions, executing benefit verification, and prioritizing the completion of all pre-certifications.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
During the assigned shift, plan, allocate, supervise, and execute essential duties to ensure patient safety and departmental efficiency.
Possess knowledge of environment management.
Understand appropriate clinical evaluations, diagnoses, and interventions with patients.
Coordinate with the financial department to guarantee timely and precise financial counseling for patients when necessary.
Offer guidance and direction to staff, fostering mutual trust, respect, and collaboration among team members.
Ensure that necessary logs are completed for each patient processed through admissions.
Engage in staff training by acting as a mentor for new admission team members.
Promptly report shift challenges to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
Exhibit a positive, empathetic, and professional demeanor towards customers at all times. When patient needs are unmet, acknowledge and work towards resolving complaints. Recognize that patient safety is paramount.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Carry out additional functions and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
A Master's degree in a social services field is preferred or a Registered Nurse (RN) is required.
In certain states, may also qualify as a registered nurse, in which case, an associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing is necessary.
One or more years of experience in a healthcare admissions role is preferred.One or more years of supervisory or leadership experience in a healthcare admissions environment is preferred.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification are preferred (training available upon hire and offered by the facility).
First aid certification may be preferred based on state or facility requirements.
